Cookie Cart
|
Cookie Cart bakes bright futures by providing a first job experience and leadership training to teens – in a bakery! What began as a cart rolling up and down the streets of North Minneapolis, after outgrowing Sister Jean Thuerauf’s kitchen, where neighborhood youth got help with schoolwork and learned how to bake cookies; it has now grown into two neighborhood bakeries on West Broadway in North Minneapolis and on Payne Avenue in St. Paul. Along the way, Sister Jean Thuerauf’s vision and legacy has remained their guide: to use cookies as a tool to provide hundreds of neighborhood teens with the job experience and leadership skills they need to have successful futures. Cookie Cart gives Twin Cities teens the opportunity to develop foundational skills and tools to be successful in education and career by combining hands-on work experience, classroom work readiness curriculum, customer service education, leadership training, and financial literacy classes.

The Cat McNerlin LSP Scholarship for Artists
Introducing the Cat McNerlin LSP Scholarship for Artists: Making Leadership St. Paul more accessible for artists
Cat McNerlin, LSP Class of 2017
Chamber Event Director |
Among her innumerable talents, Cat was a brilliant writer, musical composer, creative event planner...artist.
Cat's creative lens made everything and everyone she touched better. She taught us that we all benefit from the creative perspective of artists. Because of Cat, our world, our discussions, our relationships, and our events were more and remain meaningful, more creative, and more fun. To honor her spirit, creativity, and impact, the St. Paul Area Chamber and Chamber Charitable Foundation have established the Cat McNerlin Leadership St. Paul Scholarship for Artists to continue to bring creativity and diversity of thought to next "Best Class Ever" and every class in our future. In Cat's name, we hope to welcome playwriters, authors, musicians, visual artists, poets, and the creative minds that will enrich our Leadership St. Paul experience and our community.
