Equity & Inclusion

Today’s leader is versatile, adaptive, able to navigate uncertainty and course correct to set new direction, vulnerable enough to be authentic about what they think and feel as they move their organizations forward, and courageous enough to do the heavy lifting even when it takes them way out of their comfort zones. Change requires intentional focus and deliberate action from leaders who leverage their positions to walk the talk and embed best practices in their organizations.
The St. Paul Area Chamber offers the Equity Leadership Series, a program designed to develop equity leadership at all organizational levels, from frontline workers to C-suite leaders.

Equity Leadership Series 2.0

Addressing inequity in any given organization requires acceptance and commitment by leadership. At the St. Paul Area Chamber, we recognize the importance of promoting diversity of thought, culture, personal identity, lived experience and perspective with leaders to achieve a vibrant and economically successful future in the region.

The Equity Leadership Series was born out of that commitment and through this six-part leadership development series works to drive inclusive change for true equity within participants’ organizations. It is about transformational leadership.

This year, based on our participants’ feedback, we are redesigning the series to be more immersive and experiential while creating community among the participants. It will continue to be a six-part series spread throughout the year with organizations encouraged to send a team of at least three participants. What’s truly exciting is that we will take participants into places where they will be exposed to difference – see it, hear it, taste it and feel it.
Format:

2023’s six-part series will be in person, typically lasting 2-3 hours. Four of our sessions will take participants to a variety of places or experiences in the Twin Cities where they will gain familiarity with, learn about, and reflect upon different cultures and perspectives in our community, followed by a facilitated discussion. Depending on the experience, times will vary. Two sessions will be more intensive learning, reflection and action planning sessions. While we encourage people to attend all six, people can also attend just one or more.

It is up to all of us, no matter where you are within an organization’s hierarchy or in your community to drive the change for all of us to be our authentic selves and feel welcomed and supported in our workplaces and in the community.

Be a part of making our region a leader in the nation as a champion of equity!
